Topics for Paper #4

Take a detail or a conceit or topic found in both a sonnet by Wroth and a sonnet by her uncle Sir Phillip Sidney and discuss in detail their treatments of it. Use just the sonnets printed in our volume.

Are their treatments of these shared topics more similar than different?  Does her devotion to his model have her treat the same detail in a similar manner or does she tune it to her own voice? 

Some possible topics: food, liberty, night (or its contrast, light), sport and leisure.

For this assignment, you have 365 words.  Limit the essay to 350 words and bank the extra 15 for titles, etc.

Grading Template:

Thoughtful, insightful argument about the text: 30%

Clear and perhaps compelling writing, effective movement from idea to idea: 30%

Effective use of evidence, including close-reading of specific moments from text: 20%

Correct use of relevant keywords from lecture and readings: 10%

Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, diction: 10%
