KNOW:
Shakespeare’s birth and death dates—1564-1616
Difference between Italian and English sonnet forms
Monarch under which each sonneteer wrote and the order of the three monarchs we’ve discussed (Henry VIII, Elizabeth 1, James 1)
Do know the main centuries in which these sonnets were written (16th-> 17th Wroth)
Wars of the Roses
Early Modern v. Renaissance
Humanism
English Civil War

For each text, know:
Title (if it has a title—you do not need to know sonnet numbers), author, date*, genre (and form, prose, poetry, sonnet type), original language, plot, names of important characters

Know the meanings of the keywords and be able to define them in a short answer format.

Helpful hints:
Flip through the pages of readings to re-familiarize yourself with key passages.                                                      
Read through your notes.
Re-read the introductory essays in the book–very helpful.

Make practice quizzes for the others in your study group.  Create learning games.
